Biography

Bo Mapfumo is a Music Composer, Sound Designer and Audio Engineer.
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Bo was fortunate to be born into a musical family. The son of the late singer Susan Mapfumo, Bo embraced Mbira, A Shona traditional instrument with spiritual importance.
As a young man, Bo first learned about music production under the tutelage of Chris Matema at Teal Records in Harare, and under the guidance of the late West Nkosi at Gallo Records in both Harare and Johannesburg. While interning for Nkosi, Bo was exposed to analog recording techniques, and assisted with editing the breakout album ‘Peacock’ for recording group Splash & Stimela Gallo Records
